Wired that way

People are such interesting creatures. We share similarites yet were still very different from one another. I always thought everyone should react the way I do or else there’s something wrong with them. It wasn’t until I read a book called “Wired that Way” by Marita Littauer. This book opened my eyes to understanding myself and others. What I learned is that in the book there are four personality types. The terms she uses are words we hear daily, but in this context its a different lingo. For instance, the first personlity type is "Popular Sanguiene". They are called that way because greeks believed that people with this personality trait behaved that way due to red hot blood coursing through them. But in this context the word "sanguiene" will be used to describe this personality trait. The second term is "Perfect Melancholy". The greeks thought that people that acted this way was becauseof black bile in thier bodies. The term "melancholy" does mean depressed, but in this blog it will be used to descrbe this particular personality. The third personality trait is "Powerful Choleric". The greeks thought that people who had this behavior hadyellow bile that gave them the traits they have. The fourth personality type is "Peaceful Phelgmatic". They got thier name because the greeks thought that people who behaved this way had phlegm in them and that made them react the way they did.
So now that you know more about these terms; I will be using random cartoon characters to give you an idea of what these personality types are. By the end you’ll be an expert.
First let’s take a look at Dexter from “Dexter’s Labratory. In the tv show "Dexter's Labratory" Dexter is an intelligent boy for his age. He spends his days studying in his lab after school and always wants perfection. Dexter is also a big fan of solitude and loves to analyze every small detail he encounters. He is what is called “Perfect Melancholy”. These people dress conservative, are patient, and perfectionists. They are smart, organized and we need them in this world, or else we wouldn’t have exact plans on how to do things that need to get done.

Next we have goofy! In the tv shows, Goofy is always very clumsy and he's also seems to be friendly to everyone. When Goofy is around there is always something funny happening. He wears bright colors, he’s funny, friendly, and he’s the life of a party. He’s what is called “Popular Sanguine”, they love attention and like to please people and be admired. Oh how they love to get attention, we need these fun loving friendly people. Without them life is boring.
Goofy (Popular Sanguine)
Our third example is Buttercup from “the Power Puff Girls”. In the show, Buttercup is a confident gal. She always wants to fight the biggest toughest monsters and she is rarley afraid to loose. She is a born leader and is intimdating. She is a “Powerful Choleric”, these people tend to have followers because they are able to lead teams of people and get things done. We need them to because without them no work would get accomplished.

And last but not least we have Kenny from “South Park”. He’s extremley quiet, agreeable, a good listener and very chill.  On the tv show, Kenny isn't really offended by much. Kenny does no harm to others and he tends to just go with the flow. This personality type is called “Peaceful Phlegmatic”. They’re easy to get along with. We need peaceful people when the world panics. Thanks phlegmatics.

Well now that you have an idea of what these personality types are you'll be able to understand my stories. I do alot of people watching and love to observe and figure out how and why people behave the way they do. But sometimesI forget that not everyone is just like me so it sometimes results in me finding things out that lead to a funny story. Until next time.
